Week 7

Prior to the Internet, we had circuit switched networks. Protocols include rules of communication, syntax and semantics, small acts, and can relate to other protocols in terms of layers. For my business, the web protocol is the most important since it is an online business. There are four steps between the client and web server for the hypertext transfer protocol, (1) Connecting to the protocol (2) Requesting from the protocol (3) Getting the request/response from the server and (4) Web server closes connection.
I would suggest my company to use the IMAP because even after reading the email, it would be copied from the server and will still remain in the email server. Unlike POP, after the client receives the mail, it would no longer remain in the server. Parent Protocols are also important becayse TCP guarantees delivery of packets and IP contols the route that packets takes.
Instead of having our customers memorize our IP address, we can just have a domain name. It is simplier to remember and we can get creative with the domain name to attract more attention of consumers. If the online business does get successful, my domain name would be protected under WIPO (World Intellectual Proporty Organization). No one else can create a domain name similar to mine to get customers for themselves.
